Fido's Holiday Wish List

December 15, 2020

Season’s Greetings! At this time of year, many people are usually quite busy with shopping and wrapping gifts. Your canine pal will definitely pay close attention as you fill stockings and perhaps hide a few gifts. Don’t forget to pick up something for your pup! In this article, a Sarasota, FL vet lists a few things that will get your pooch’s tail wagging.

Toys

Making sure your pup always has lots of playthings is very important. It’s also pretty fun watching dogs get excited when they spot a new toy! Fill your canine buddy’s stockings with classic dog toys, like tennis balls and plush toys. Or, get your playful pet something more modern, like a mechanical ball launcher.

Treats

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to get Fido’s cute tail going, it’s a tasty snack. Store-bought treats are fine, but you can also make your own. You’ll find some great recipes online! These also make cute gifts for your friends’ and family members’ dogs. Put them in Mason jars, and use a festive ribbon as decoration. Just stick with ingredients that are safe for dogs. Also, don’t give your furry buddy too many of his things at once.

Doghouse

Do you have a fenced yard? If so, consider getting your furry friend a doghouse. Although Fido should of course live indoors with the rest of the family, he will enjoy having his own little spot to look adorable in. Just choose something that offers great protection from the elements.

Bed

A new bed is another great gift. This is also one that will definitely get a lot of use. If Fido is a large dog, or an older pooch, he may appreciate an orthopedic bed, because of the extra support they offer. Smaller dogs may prefer beds with raised sides, what ‘sprawly’ dogs may be happy with a basic bed they can stretch out on.

Attention

At the end of the day, your loyal pet really wants nothing more than to spend time with you. Pay lots of attention to your canine friend! Talk to your pup, pet him, and play with him. Fido’s love and compassion are truly precious gifts, and things we should definitely treasure.
