With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’re seeing lots of decorative items and motifs highlighting the meaning of the holiday: gratitude. We’re definitely very grateful for our feline friends! However, we’re not sure they are very appreciative of some of the things that keep them healthy and safe. Read on as a local Sarasota, FL vet lists a few things Fluffy probably could be more thankful for.
Proper veterinary care can make a huge difference to your furry friend’s health and well-being. Regular exams will give you an idea of Fluffy’s overall condition, while preventative care, such as vaccines and parasite control, will protect her from dangerous parasites and diseases. However, your feline pal would rather opt out of her appointments and take a nap instead.
Vacuums are a must for getting rid of pet fur. Vacuuming regularly also adds another layer of protection against flea infestations. Fluffy doesn’t quite see it that way, though. She just sees a noisy space robot that’s trying to devour her.
Kitties are homebodies by nature, but they will eventually have to go from point A to point B, either for a veterinary appointment, a move, or a stay at a kennel. Even though that drive is in your furball’s best interest, she won’t be very happy about it.
If you’ve ever had to give your cat medication, you’ve probably realized that Fluffy isn’t a big fan of getting pilled. In fact, your furball may fight tooth and claw to keep from swallowing her meds, even though they are crucial to her health.
Getting your furry little friend fixed isn’t just the responsible thing to do, it’s also beneficial for her. Fluffy won’t be plagued by hormonal urges, and will generally be safer, calmer, and better behaved. However, we suspect most of our patients would have voted against the procedure.
Our feline buddies are very adventurous, and they have a tendency to race headfirst into trouble. We always recommend keeping them inside, as there are just too many hazards waiting for them outside. However, Fluffy would probably rather have her own entrance, along with the ability to come and go as she pleases.
