Kids And Pets Day With Fluffy

April 26th is National Kids And Pets Day! Talk about a purrfect pairing. Our feline friends make wonderful playmates, companions, and cuddle buddies for little ones. Fluffy is also a wonderful source of comfort for children on bad days. A local Lakewood Ranch, FL vet lists some things you can do to make sure your furry pal has a fun and special day in this article. 

Catnip Toys 

Does your kitty enjoy catnip? It’s pretty easy to make Fluffy a cute catnip toy. You’ll need to cut a piece of material into two identically-shaped pieces. Put one on top of the other, with the outsides facing in, and then sew the edges together, leaving just a small hole. Turn them right-side out, and then put the catnip through the hole.

Box Castle 

One thing that will never stop being adorable is Fluffy’s love of boxes. Making your furry little diva a palace of her own can be a really cute kids’ project. If you go with more than one story, just make sure it’s sturdy enough to support your feline overlord. You don’t want her falling through! 

Photo Session 

We never get tired of seeing adorable photos of our furry friends posing with their tiny humans. Opt for a classic shot, or snap some fun photos of your little ones playing with Fluffy. Filters, effects, and backgrounds can turn silly candid shots into family treasures. 

Communication

This is also a good time to talk to your kids about the do’s and don’ts of playing with Fluffy, and also just offer tips on communicating with her. For instance, one rule of befriending cats is that it’s best to let the kitty decide when cuddle time starts and stops. Another must-know cat fact? Touch that furry belly at your own peril!

Entertainment

Wind down the day with a fun cat-themed movie or book. The new Puss N’ Boots film is a pretty pawesome option, but there are plenty of other great ones to choose from. Of course, you don’t want to leave your feline pal out of the fun. Buy or make her a new toy, and take some time to play with her!
